Pontiac Police Mobile Mini Station
Pontiac, Michigan (March 14, 2009 ) --Pontiac Police Department has implemented a new community policing tool utilizing its First Responder vehicle. The First Responder vehicle has been transformed into a Mobile Police Mini-Station. The use of the Mobile Police Mini-Station will give the Pontiac Police Department the ability to station personnel in each of the Citizen District Councils at a specific location. Residents will be able to access the unit once a week when the unit is in their district. The goal of the Mobile Police Mini-Station is to promote good community relations, assist citizens, and form partnerships. The Mobile Police Mini-Station will also conduct maintenance patrols for abandoned vehicles and environmental issues. The unit will perform police functions that are normally performed at police headquarters such as handing out free gun locks. This unit will be staffed by two police officers, two auxiliary officers and one supervisor.
