It's Harvest Festival time!
Pontiac, Michigan (October 7, 2004) -- On October 30th, 2004 the Pontiac Police Department will host our Annual Harvest Festival from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Aaron Perry Park, behind the Community Resource Center (251 East Rundell). The event is free to all Pontiac children; but they MUST be accompanied by an adult. Participants can park at the Glenwood Plaza and take a free shuttle over to the fun.
This year's theme is "Mayberry Michigan USA", (Andy Griffith Show) building on the fact that Pontiac's crime rate has been steadily declining. Harvest Festival offers a safe and fun alternative to the usual mischief associated with October 30th, and it directly reflects in the lack of devil's night related calls for service to the Pontiac Police Department.
The event includes hayrides, games, police displays, and our "Meet N Treet" tent, where volunteers and businesses pass out candy. Last year over 5000 were in attendance. The festival would not be possible without the terrific support of the Greater Pontiac businesses and community groups who so unselfishly donate their time, money and resources to support this event.
